Student experiences at Baylor University

Baylor University has provided me with a lot of opportunities, and my professors have been wonderful. They really helped me to achieve good results in my courses, which provided a real advantage on the job market. I was able to accept an employment offer from Deloitte in Houston before I  even graduated!

The academics at Baylor University are awesome. Because I took courses in a variety of disciplines outside my major, I felt that I developed not only as a scientist but as a human being as well.

My favorite thing about Baylor University is the professors. They are here for you if you have any problems or need extra help. Last semester I felt that my grades for one class did not reflect my abilities, so I spoke to my professor about it, who challenged me to work even harder. He always encouraged me to call or email him even if it was outside his office hours. Professors at Baylor really want the best for their students.

Waco, Texas (pop. 230,000) is a close-knit community that takes great pride in its local university and treats students and visitors to the region’s famed southern hospitality.  Students also appreciate the warm climate, where hiking, canoeing and horseback riding are options year-round. Waco’s cozy downtown offers delicious local food specialties such as Ninfa’s for Tex-Mex, a fusion of American and Mexican cuisines; and Vitek’s BBQ, serving Texas-style smoked brisket, sausages and ribs.

Baylor’s campus is a blend of traditional and contemporary buildings, lush open spaces and tree-shadowed plazas. It is the center of student life both in and out of the classroom. Game days pack over 45,000 American football fans into McLane Stadium, where the students’ cheers of support help the Baylor Bears to victory. The University becomes a second home to its students and alumni, who return to campus even after they graduate.
